The attacks on Muslims does not only stop at physical abuse but also attacks on their places of worship and their business premises. The attacks were directed at men, women and children as long as one was Muslim (Ernst, 2013, 16).
Some of the attacks on Muslims in the UK include an Afghani taxi driver being attacked and left paralyzed. During the attack, the perpetrator constantly referred to September 11. On another scenario, ten pigs were slaughtered and beheaded, and the heads were left outside an Essex Mosque. Research findings further show that attacks included insults to children on their way to school or women shopping, to one instant reported where a Muslim mother had her baby tipped out of the pram by a passerby. The world should be a free place to live in, but Muslims are left to live in fear and are completely demoralized. They can barely enjoy feeling safe at home, their places of worship or at leisure.
If one closely examines facts, one would easily believe that indeed, if Islamophobia exists, then Muslims are the ones to blame for it. A new poll shows that one out of every four Britons distrusts Muslim and believes that they would hurt them. Given the kind of history that exists between the Britons and Muslims in the UK, one cannot really blame them. It would be expected that one stereotype a particular group depending on the kind of history you have. In addition, Muslims do not exactly help the situation but spreading hate messages against the Britons themselves. It does not only stop at the 9-11 attack.
