Write an essay on one of the Minima Moralia entries not discussed in the two lectures. The lecture on Thursday will include discussion of 15 and 16, and this discussion could serve as a model. You are welcome to talk to your Professor about appropriate entries to choose. The following are among those that might be discussed in class, and if so do not write on them:
3, 5, 6, 9, 15, 16,17, 22, 66, 67, 100, 152, 153
Your paper should show not only a thorough understanding of the entry you chose, but should show familiarity with Adorno in general. You are encouraged to refer to other passages from the Adorno reading. It is very difficult to write a good paper for this assignment without having read Minima Moralia thoroughly and carefully.
Do not start the paper before the second Adorno lecture.
You are welcome to talk to your TA about appropriate entries to choose. What about entries like 29 or 72, which are not single essays but collections of one or two sentence pieces? It is of course possible to write a good paper on one of these more fragmentary pieces, but I would recommend that you check with your TA to see what she or he thinks. Personally, I would not recommend it. It is of also fine to choose one of the entries not assigned on the syllabus; there are a lot of other good ones.
