Obviously less than 10 years later, when a more abstract work might have been better and more sensitive to people's feelings, whereas in say 30 or 40 years, a more realistic representation might be okay. Another is simply how realistic versus abstract it is in its symbolism and representation -- the more realistic, the more problematic the closer in time and location.
