1. How does the story relate to issues in your life? Think creatively here. Learning and growth occurs when we experience information on a personal level and are able to generate original ideas about these experiences. Although the specifics of the characters and their lives may not apply to you, family dynamics and personality characteristics are universal. Write a paragraph using complete sentences and refer to the story using correct MLA citation. 

2. Imagine Maggie and Mama's life one year after the events of the story. Where are they? What are they doing? Support your ideas using evidence from the story, i.e. personality traits and actions. There is no right or wrong answer here. You will be evaluated on how you support your response. Use correct MLA citations when referencing the story. 3. Watch the following videos, which feature Alice Walker (the author) discussing being Black and being a Black woman (Womanist). How is Walker herself (as the author) reflected in Dee's actions and behaviors within the story? You must cite both videos and the story in your response using correct MLA.
