II. Discussion To better understand the journey of the characters in the two literary pieces, let us first look at the point of view used by the writers. In “The Road not Taken”, the author used the first person and played a major role in the poem (Finger, 1978). Note that in this literary piece, the author talks about having to make a choice between two paths and how he felt sorry that he could not take both. Since the author uses the first person approach, the readers’ perspective of the story is limited only to the thoughts, feelings and points of view of the writer (Finger, 1978).
