A chief objective of the course, Art Appreciation, is the enhancement of your vision as a means of critically understanding the visual languages and codes that exist in the world around us. The discussion topic of the first week is this: Since starting this course, have you noticed a form of art that has caused you to take a "second look" and have a better appreciation or understanding of the ways in which the visual arts influence our daily lives?  (Examples are limitless, but could include a painting, a billboard, a graphic design, an ad in a magazine, the organization of the city or community you live in, or the décor or design of a building where you work.)

Please do not rely on past experiences.  Rather, try to connect some recent observation with the subjects you are learning in this class.
