Ethical Accounting Health Care
Dr. Weinstein, knows the importance of ethics in a workplace. As seen in the video, two co-workers that did not feel appreciated, he helped them feel appreciated. And that made such a big difference in their lives, because the feel like their work is being appreciated. When someone is working hard and starts to feel unappreciated, they start losing the love and passion for their work, because people don’t notice what they are doing. And that’s when the conflicts in the workplace start to happen. Showing appreciation towards co-workers brings a positive atmosphere. And happy employees tend to be more compassionate to patients.
This article is talking about the concerns physicians have using (EBBP) Evidence Based Best Practices guidelines. Healthcare is supposed to provide quality care and while reducing the costs. EBBP, clinical pathways, clinical practice guidelines, and standards for quality (Thibadoux. 2001). These are all methods to determine diagnosis and treatments. Financial health care providers, and managed care organizations are investigating methods to monitor and control health care cost. To some extend it’s a good thing, because there are providers that order unnecessary tests. But in the other hand it limits providers who really are for their patients and want to give them that compassionate care that they need.
Health care can benefit from ethical accounting. When we go to the doctors’ office we expect to be treated with fair and ethical treatment. The accounting staff is responsible for coding and billing. Ethics are made of three components: independence, integrity, objectivity. Which the entire medical staff should have. But as we all know, it is very rare to find a medical office with all those components.
