Article Economic Analysis & Presentation

Objective: To increase your ability to: i. apply fundamental economic tools to analyze and evaluate current events.

ii. continue to improve your writing, teamwork, and presentations skills.

Instructions:

Part I: Written Assignment

Prepare a (three – six pages long, typewritten and double spaced, with standard font and margins) written microeconomics analysis of an article (news, journal, research publication) of your choice. Your written report should include the following:

1) a short initial summary of the article’s main points

2) economic analysis: use economic tools (concepts/theories/models) to analyze the article i. You can use graphs for your analysis

3) your reaction to the article i. Do you agree/disagree (or neither)? Did all your group members have the same reaction? ii. If the article involves a change in policy, you should discuss the fairness issue. iii. Any other comments/opinions you would like to include.
