A DBMS is software that interacts with the user to analyze the data that is inside of a database (Anjard, 1994). Database Management Systems are the new wave of the future of technology. Advantages of a Database Management System for organizations to utilize is the location of is within the software chain providers data independence (Anjard, 1994). Data can be stored in one location and accessed by many different systems (Anjard, 1994). Another advantage is the software masks within the database management system provides data integrity economies of scale (Anjard, 1994). One of the main advantages of a database over a spreadsheet is data from multiple programs are fields can be implemented into a database, and a spreadsheet is only one program (Anjard, 1994).

My experience with database management systems is very extensive. I have worked with Microsoft Access for about 7 years now. I have experience in the products Microsoft Office has to offer, but I have found the Microsoft Access is the most useful. I have to enter in employees names that need to be used in several different databases. I can enter a person to setup a birth day calendar, and I can also have them setup on a work schedule in the same database. It is a very useful tool, and has helped me stay organized for several years now.
