Thread:The ability to understand and explain syntax is often demonstrated through phrase structure rules and tree diagramming. After reviewing many of the tree diagramming concepts and components, select 1 of the following questions and provide an in depth multi-paragraph response.

Question 1. Select one of the teaching exercises at the end of these chapters that you believe will be useful to you as a teacher or writer. Explain what this suggestion is and why it will be useful in your teaching.

Question 2. What is the benefit of understanding the tree diagrams used to explain the phrase structure rules? Why are more linguists comfortable with a binary tree style as opposed to the more traditional Reed-Kellogg diagramming system?
