It is not known to what extent the integration of Generations X, Y, and Z into the workforce and the retirement of Baby Boomers quantitatively influence organizational culture, nor how to effectively address intergenerational conflicts and utilize the diverse strengths of each cohort to improve workplace outcomes. With four different generations in the workplace, organizations are experiencing a rising work-value conflict and differences in preferences in learning styles, beliefs, and communication styles (Barhate & Dirani, 2022, p. 150). Based on the proposed problem statement, research questions have been developed to provide an in-depth analysis that defines the characteristics of each generation.
- RQ1: In what ways do generational cohorts differ in their perceptions of organizational culture?
- RQ2: Are there identifiable job satisfaction and productivity trends across generational cohorts?
- RQ3: Do perceptions of the effectiveness of organizational strategies vary among different generational cohorts?
- RQ4: Can the unique strengths of each generational cohort be identified and linked to enhanced organizational performance?
The problem statement identifies variables suitable for quantitative analysis, leveraging the diversity of four generations in the workforce for a substantial sample size. This approach is adept at uncovering patterns, correlations, and possible causal links, particularly in examining the interplay between generational views and socio-cultural dynamics at work. Quantitative research, often employing standardized tools, offers consistent, objective measurements, minimizing bias (Lan, 2020, p. 81). Its structured format also facilitates replication, which is essential for result validation and evidence accumulation in the field. The research will build on existing research and provide a model that could be used as future generations enter the workplace.
