Overview

Vocabulary has been linked to academic, reading, and writing success in the post-secondary setting. Language and terminology development are essential to effectively reading and understanding subject-area specific material (special education peer-reviewed journals, research, etc.).  Research has shown that vocabulary development is most effective when you construct your own meaning (even at the doctoral level) as well as, a visual representation of terms or concepts.  Throughout this course, you will develop a personal research and assessment glossary where you can record important or unfamiliar words, topics, and concepts you would like to explore. I HIGHLY encourage you to develop this glossary throughout the course as you encounter challenging terms and/or concepts that you do not understand.  This assignment will require you to identify, wrestle with personal meanings, understand terminology, as well as, serve as a diagnostic self-monitoring tool. The glossary will represent your journey throughout this course.  (MLO: A, B, C, D)

Instructions

The glossary should include at least 30 entries (NOT counting the three assigned research design entries. These should NOT be included in this assignment.). NOTE: Quality indicators CAN NOT be included as entries in the assignment glossary as terms or concepts. Repetition within entries should not be included.  Each section of the template should incorporate at least two citations from per section from a scholarly journal and a word count for each section when requested. References in current APA format should be included in the designated area at the end of your template.   All 30 entries should be combined into one document for submission. Each entry should begin on a new page.

The candidates 30 entries must also include:

·      At least 6 Terms dealing with Assessment

·      At least 6 Terms dealing with Research
